Where the edge is disputed
1997–2000. Pew puts 1997 to 2000 in Generation Z. Definitions that end the Millennials in 2000 put these years with the Millennials.
2010–2012. Pew puts 2010 to 2012 in Generation Z, which it runs to 2012. McCrindle, who named Generation Alpha, starts it in 2010 and puts these years in Alpha.
How old this cohort is now
Someone born on 1 January 1997, the earliest possible date in this range, is now 29. Someone born on 31 December 2012, the latest, is now 13. Both are worked out from today's date, the day this page was built — for an age that stays current, use the calculator on the relevant year's page.
