The Greatest Generation
Defined by Tom Brokaw, The Greatest Generation (1998) — also called the G.I. Generation. This boundary is contested rather than settled.
Brokaw named the cohort but set no dates. The 1901–1927 range is the one that settled into common use, by working backwards from Pew's start for the Silent Generation.
