Lichun's usual date
4 February is Lichun's usual date. The solar term that opens spring, and with it the Tiger's solar month, fell on this date in Beijing in 82 of the 107 years from 1920 to 2026, and on the 5th or the 3rd in the rest. The lunar new year is much less regular here: in those years it fell on 4 February only in 1935, the year of the Wood Pig, and in 1992, the Water Monkey, and the engine puts it here next on 4 February 2038, the first day of the Earth Horse.
Lichun is fixed by the sun and barely moves; the new year is fixed by the moon and wanders across a month. So a 4 February birthday came on or after the day of Lichun and before the new year in 45 of those 107 years: the stretch in which bazi, the four pillars method of Chinese fortune-telling, and the calendar give different animals. In 44 of those years Lichun fell on the 4th itself, so only a birth after its moment that day was in the stretch. This site gives the calendar's animal. In 2024 the new year came on 10 February, and 4 February 2024 belongs to the Water Rabbit of 2023.
The sign is Aquarius on every 4 February from 1920 to 2026, in every time zone.

Which Chinese animal, by year
